Acting, for me, is about sitting with full, complex, authentic human beings whose experiences tap into a core reality of the viewer. As an actor, I place myself in concert with body, voice, text, material, and space. A successful performance stitches together each component and brings the audience a little closer to appreciating their own life-ness.

From whimsey to poignancy, the playing space - mainstage, backyard, basement - offers an opportunity to interrogate the human condition, deep-dive into relationships, and open dialogue from the mind, heart, and neuron between artists and audiences.

Tomato Plant Girl (Metro Theatre Co)

The nominal villain in this TYA show about relational bullying, the Bossy Best Friend exhibited the perpetuation of violence as she controls her best friend, projecting her helplessness as a child of an overbearing mother. The success of the role lay in transpiring a warning message to well-intentioned friends who overpower their peers, and the resulting tragedy of destroyed trust and lost friendship. photo: metro theatre company
