Acting, for me, is about sitting with full, complex, authentic human beings whose experiences tap into a core reality of the viewer. As an actor, I place myself in concert with body, voice, text, material, and space. A successful performance stitches together each component and brings the audience a little closer to appreciating their own life-ness.

From whimsey to poignancy, the playing space - mainstage, backyard, basement - offers an opportunity to interrogate the human condition, deep-dive into relationships, and open dialogue from the mind, heart, and neuron between artists and audiences.

Mistakes Were Made (Midnight Co)

Normally portrayed as a disembodied voice in a male-centric solo show, Esther - with the support of director Sarah Whitney - provided an opportunity to explore developing a true counterpart to the talkative lead, resulting in a lovable and intelligent support through the emotional journey of the troubled protagonist. photo: peter wochniak
